Why bank umbilical cord lining?

Storing the lining of the umbilical cord means keeping the stem cells that are in the outermost layer of the cord. Cordlife is the first company in Singapore to have an exclusive license for CellOptima™, a technology for harvesting and expanding two types of progenitor stem cells that can be collected from the umbilical cord lining – mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and cord lining epithelial cells (CLECs).

Cord lining banking is different from cord blood banking. When you bank cord blood, you are storing haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). HSCs are mainly responsible for making new blood and repairing the immune system.

When you store all three types of cells, you give your child and family access to the growing applications of stem cells and their therapeutic potential. These are the youngest and most potent cells available, and can only be collected at birth.
